Happy Father’s Day! - to all you Father’s out there…
This will be the first year that I miss almost all holidays in America—of course, I will have the biggest celebration of my life when I get married in less than 40 days! It’s all very exciting and stressful—but life happens in the process. I am beginning to imagine what it will be like to be a father. Life...a life...to be responsible for, to care for, and to love as your own...must be the most amazing part of an earthly existence. I certainly congratulate all you fathers that care so deeply for your children. Thanks for your prayers and strength that you are giving to us...the younger generation. My brother Josh became a father again in May...as Becky successfully gave birth to Noah Carter Schwendinger. Thanks for all your prayers that helped and thank God for giving a healthy baby boy in the midst of so many physical trials in Becky’s life!!!!
The Busy Month of June:
June as always been a busy month for me, whether I was working in construction or going on short-term mission trips throughout my college years. This month will be no exception, because I am doing both. There is the construction on our Church, ICA—and there is construction in my apartment as I am moving things, and trying to set things up for my new bride to move in here after July 8th. The shoe is on a different foot for missions, as I will be hosting an ORU mission team and working in/with different villages, orphanages, and churches. The team has been in a different city the past 10 days or so—doing door-to-door evangelism and aiding the churches around Poltava, UA. They are returning today, May 29th and I will be working with them until June 13th.
My Russian school is breaking for the summer, as of May 31st…and I praise God for the break to review the thousands of words they wanted us to learn. English Club will continue this month, but we will break for July, as the wedding and honeymoon will be most of that month. Also, on May 31st, I turn my car over to the repair shop—to fix all the dents that occurred since February, so that means no car for a few weeks. My brother will be flying in July 3rd through July 10th for my wedding. Therefore, all remaining plans for my two-day wedding ceremony will have to be completed June 14-July 1st. On June 20th, Tanya will graduate from her University, after presenting a huge architectural project, with drawings and a 70-page paper. Pray for all these events!
The Wedding Invitation
We are including a wedding invitation in this Newsletter, as well as, where we registered for gifts. If we were marrying in the States you would be invited, so I am including it, and I am sorry you can’t be here, if you wanted to. If the invitation fell out, you can always go to www.rickandtanya.com or www.thebigday.com and type in the last name: Schwendinger, or call 1-800-304-1141. The gift registry is for our dream honeymoon—as anyone can purchase little things to make it happen, like an excursion, golf, air miles or time at a spa, restaurant, hotel, etc. THANKS so much for celebrating so far away with us!
