This is the Newsletter that I sent out to my people, via post - if you got it in the mail you don't need to read it here, if not, please read and learn what's going on! Thanks...Rick.
March—is here—are you kidding me? What a difference a year makes! Last March I was hosting John Dieter for some time and getting ready to come back to the States, as my first 6 months, were expiring. Winter is sometimes a dry time, and with the depressing cold last winter (-30) and no car, no Tanya, very little Russian, and seemingly few answers to prayers...I was getting depressed. God was gracious and my time in America was refreshing and needed. Now, this March...I have seen the answers to some major prayers, my cousins are about to have a miracle child, I found my girl (another miracle), and I feel great about my progress in my Russian studies—not to mention English club and Kid’s project successes. So for now, it looks like I won’t be back to the States for a while! Continue...by clicking on (more)
(more)+ 2 - 1 | § ¶The Car Day
Well, as most of you know, we have good days and bad days. This past Sunday was one of those interestingly bad days...
I will make this brief...As I don't like "reliving it":) Anyway, I went to church, then planned a 5 hour Russian study with a friend in my class named John Johnson, who I dubbed "John John"...which only makes perfect sense:) So, when I got in my car to leave...and I backed out of a small space, my tires hit ice and I couldn't stop my car from slipping back and hitting a metal fence (which serves no purpose by the way) - and I broke out my back light, which you can see in the pictures. From there, I thought I would do something nice and pick up Tanya from work (yes, she was asked to work the whole weekend) and when I got there I had to wait a few hours as she was finishing the project (she is a designer of homes, etc) When she finally came out...I drove her home, she invited me up to her room to have borsh with her roommate. I was at her place for a little over an hour...when I left...Tanya walked me down to the car...and I notice that someone was kind enough to let out all the air (in the process breaking my valve stem) in my back driver's side tire. Of course, gas stations here don't have a "quick fix" like we have in America, and to top it off, they don't provide air (only the Shell station on the other side of town does). However, I had to change my tire in my Sunday clothes anyway -
The worse part...Tanya had to run to find me a flashlight...and on her way down the stairs she tripped and strained her ankle. So, I want to say Thank you to that Ukrainian who provided me with such a wonderful evening (sarcasm...an over used tool of the devil, huh?) Anyway, Tanya is feeling better, but couldn't walk Monday, so I drove around much more that day...
At the end of the day, it could have been much worse, if the jackal would have let out the air in 2 tires...I would have had NO way to cope. I don't even want to tell you the process it would have taken in changing tires, having friends drive me across town for air, and back a few times and who knows what else. Well, now you know...I am placing a video on MySpace explaining this fun event more - www.myspace.com/missionsupport
Praise God that HE HEALS, SAVES, and gives grace in times of need. Keep praying for us, Tanya, and of course, safety on the roads and where I park my car.
