+ 7 - 9 | § ¶The Buck stops here!
Ok - If I went into full details of my hunting experience on Saturday, November 18th - you would either laugh or think my luck is horrible.
However, I did - after shooting almost a box of bullets - land one. This guy was a jackal - and hard to bring down. Well - that's what happens when your gun scope is off (that's my story and I am sticking too it) - it shot low all day - by several inches - I hope to test it at a target and come back with actual facts - but When it shot low - instead of hitting this bucks heart - it hit the upper front leg. He ran fast and far, but stopped about 50 years in the brush - where I could only see his rear - I shot again, this time, taking out both of his back legs - so, with only 1 good leg...the real struggle began. I thought I hit his heart - and that he would die soon - so when I went in close to easy his suffering with my knife - he fought me with his antler - that's right - he only had one. The other antler was missing to my dismay - reminds me of the deer in the cartoon, "Open Season" - anyway...he poked at my several times - finally - I shot him again...6 times, in the neck - with my black power rifle - he still fought me - the "why won't you die" sentence was overused that afternoon. Then, I grabbed his one good antler and held him - as I cut this throat...it still took too long - but I did the last rites and sent him to deer heaven - I don't know if I am a very good hunter - but I was proud of my buck putting up such a fight - I think we should fight more when we are down and out - when's the last time we gave our all to survive? Sometimes just one thing small thing in our lives puts us down for the count - maybe there is a spiritual lesson in all of this bad shooting - well and maybe to just site in the scope a little more so next time they don't suffer:) But hey - this buck was running with 7 does - so - he was quite the tough guy!
