+ 5 - 0 | § ¶John Dieter, and Ukrainian Elections...
Greetings my Dear Friends,
FIRST, just thought I would update some of you who are wondering how John is doing…and what we did last night! John arrived around 3 PM – and then we got him a train ticket for a nearby city called Poltava – exchanged money, and headed to the “Car Market” – which I think is an interesting place. I had to buy Oleg a few things for his Lada (which is the dirty red car we used) – I broke a few handles on the passenger side door because Lada’s are just the cheapest things in the world – thank God they are cheap to repair as well.
Then, John met with some interpreters that he will use for his travels…and later He asked to buy Oleg, his wife Raya, and myself dinner at TGI Friday’s – which was my 4th time there in 5 months…pretty awesome. So, we ate so much food that I haven’t been hungry all day pretty much.
Then, John and I slept a few hours…got up and took him to the train station at around 5am…and He is safe in Poltava for the next 6 days.
SECOND, I have some Pictures of Khreshchatyc – the main street in Kiev…where the Revolution took place a 1 and a half years ago. The Parliamentary Elections are this Sunday…March 26 – please be praying for them. As you can see all the groups are peacefully beside one another up and down the street…but, of course, they are paid…so why would they do anything else? But, as you can see…the Color of the Orange Revolution is not as much as you might expect…it seems that Ukrainians don’t feel that the new government has done all it promised. Therefore, it is looking like the “other sides” are going to win some stronger support…which is just ironic and foolish. Everything can’t change overnight…(during the revolution…the now President gave up some powers to Parliament in order to get a “another vote”) – So this election is VERY IMPORTANT…it looks like Ukraine might go backwards again…but hopefully in time…they will work through these growing pains…and keep up fighting for less fraud and oppression. Anyway, Russia has such strong pull and lots of money…so they have their ways. Another fact you might find interesting…if you are elected to Parliament, etc…you are “ABOVE THE LAW” – in other words…they can’t do anything against you in court…you are free to act as evil as you want…just try and keep the public happy or be able to rig elections. Anyway, that is why the Mob and criminals try to get in the government as quickly as possible when they have money. Basically, the law here made “the government” the safest place for a criminal. Yeah…I find that very interesting.
So…please pray for Ukraine and their Elections…
